Description
This painting is a product of deep introspection. It depicts the universal human struggle of overcoming the darkness that resides within us. All humans are riddled with guilt or insecurities about their own reality. Thus, in order to function in society, we learn to put on figurative masks that allow us to show our best selves to others. However, we are able to shed some of these masks in front of those whom we trust, making us vulnerable to them, but also human. The painting captures the rarest of moments, in which we are able to remove even the last mask and face ourselves- with our darkness -in a rare moment of illumination.
