Behind The Facade

This work is rendered in my signature angled flat brush calligraphic style.  It is a portrait of the complex relationship between individuals and society. This piece invites the viewers to contemplate; as we negotiate our place in the very fabric of society.  Here, you can trace several figures as they emerge tentatively, at the same time, shrinking back into the larger fabric of the world. Combined with the flowing effect produced by the brushwork and the semi-abstract composition, this work evokes reflection, as we ponder how much of ourselves is sacrificed to be accepted by society.

Description

This work, rendered in my signature angled flat brush calligraphic style, is a portrait of the complex relationship between individuals and society. The work invites the viewers to contemplate; as we negotiate our place in the very fabric of society, individuals essentially lose some part of themselves in order to integrate and find social acceptance. Here, you can trace several figures as they emerge tentatively, at the same time, shrinking back into the larger fabric of the world. Combined with the flowing effect produced by the brushwork and the semi abstract composition, this work evokes reflection, as we ponder how much of ourselves is sacrificed in order to be accepted by society.
